Lane of Lights

A volunteer-built drive-through along Lover's Lane. A different local nonprofit hosts each night and shares in that night's proceeds.

Good to know: Opening night is also the town's Lighted Christmas Parade (Nov 21, 2026).

A long cul-de-sac with a 50-foot light tree in the middle and candy canes at every driveway. Neighbors have done it since 1958.

What is the biggest free drive-through Christmas light display in Kansas City?

Christmas in the Park at Longview Lake in Lee's Summit, with more than a million lights and over 200 animated displays. It's free and runs nightly Nov 25 to Dec 31, 2026.

Which drive-through Christmas lights in Kansas City are free?

Christmas in the Park, Candy Cane Lane in Prairie Village and Holiday Lights on Farmstead Lane in Overland Park are free. Christmas in the Park and Candy Cane Lane collect donations for local charities.

Do I need tickets?

Only for Winter Magic in the Northland, which sells tickets per carload for a specific night ($20 to $40). Lane of Lights in Excelsior Springs hasn't posted a price for 2026. The free ones need no tickets.

When do the drive-throughs open for 2026?

Winter Magic opens in early November, Lane of Lights on Nov 21 and Christmas in the Park on Nov 25. Farmstead Lane and Candy Cane Lane haven't posted 2026 dates. In 2025 Farmstead Lane started in late November, and Candy Cane Lane usually does too.

Can a bus or limo go through?

Christmas in the Park welcomes buses and RVs; clearance is about 14 feet. Winter Magic admits vans and buses of up to 15 passengers only, with no limos or motorcoaches. Our private holiday lights bus can include Christmas in the Park and Candy Cane Lane, so nobody in your group has to drive.
